HIGHLIGHTED PROJECT
How to improve the liveability of crowded pedestrian spaces? Currently European cities are adjusting public health measures to manage COVID-19. Cflow is a decision-support system for pro-active crowd management of crowded urban spaces that can potentially link health and mobility and adapt current PT models and software tools to provide real-time counting and density information to produce heat maps to guide transit service providers for passenger management. OUR RESEARCHERS
PHD STUDENT (NAPLES, 1991) Gaia di Carluccio: "This position will allow me to continue dedicating myself to research in the field of numerical modeling with the Material Point Method (MPM) of geotechnical processes that involve large deformations" Gaia di Carluccio has recently joined the project Soil in Motion (Ref. RTI2018-097365-B-I00) coordinated by CIMNE and funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities through the call Collaboration Challenges. SEVERO OCHOA POSTDOC TRAINEE (BARCELONA, 1984) Francesc Verdugo: "The current pandemic has demonstrated the importance of predicting the evolution of complex systems and HPC is the tool that makes it possible." Francesc Verdugo is since June 2020 Severo Ochoa Postdoc Trainee in LSSC research group at CIMNE, a highly interdisciplinary research team led by Prof. Santiago Badia. DISSEMINATION
Simulating dams lifelong behaviour "Building a certified reduced basis for coupled thermo-hydro-mechanical systems with goal-oriented error estimation" is the result of a research that pertains to the tasks of the SEED Erasmus Mundus doctoral program coordinated by CIMNE. It has been carried out in collaboration with the ULB (Université libre de Bruxelles) and addresses a relevant problem for engineers: the simulation of the lifelong behaviour of dams, which is essential in the design phase but also in the monitoring and maintenance. UPCOMING EVENTS
